Florida Aquarium

Ranked among the best aquariums in the United States, the Florida Aquarium welcomes visitors to experience a variety of aquatic and terrestrial animals, including turtles, sharks, lemurs and otters, with the goal of raising awareness and inspiring conservation efforts. The Florida Aquarium is located on the waterfront in downtown Tampa, conveniently on the streetcar line. The 200,000-square-foot, air-conditioned facility houses more than 14,000 animals from Florida and beyond. Start at the Wetland Trail, which features a mangrove forest and a large aviary with free-flying birds. See river otters, alligators, sea turtles, rays, magnificent leaf sea dragons, reef fish, eels, sharks and more in the aquarium! In addition, Voyage to Madagascar features animals that inhabit this unique island, such as ring-tailed lemurs and hissing cockroaches. Enjoy three touch pools: rays, moon jellies and boneless animals. Other highlights include a 500,000-gal coral reef, the Waves of Wonder Gallery, which tells the story of conservation, and a Penguin Meet and Greet.

The Outdoor Plaza has a Splash Pad (wet and dry play area for toddlers) and a 4-D Theater (with surprise elements for 3-D short films). All included with general admission! Fun activities are available for an additional fee, including a Wild Dolphin Cruise, Behind the Scenes Tour, Penguin Backstage Pass, Dive/Swim with Sharks, Swim with Fish and more! The Florida Aquarium is a 501(C) non-profit attraction dedicated to entertaining, educating and inspiring visitors to become advocates for the protection of marine life. Open daily from 9:30 to 5:00.
